    303250 - Soccer Camp

    Youth entering grade K to grade 3.

    Learn the basic skills of soccer. During the two-week camp, participants will focus on learning skills such as dribbling, trapping, passing and receiving, game positions, and offense/defense techniques. Each participant will receive a recreation t-shirt the first day of camp (provide size when registering).

    What to bring to camp:
    Participants should dress for the outdoors and wear cleats or tennis shoes (no metal spikes) and sunscreen. Bring a refillable water bottle and an age-appropriate soccer ball each day of camp.

    This is a rain or shine program, if the program is canceled due to severe weather, no refunds will be issued. Fridays are potential rain make-up days. Check with your camp leader to confirm make-up. Please call the Recreation weather/info line at 952-882-2688 when the weather is questionable.

    303351 - PeeWee Tennis Camp

    Youth age 4 to entering grade 1.

    PeeWee Tennis is designed to introduce the game of tennis to young participants. Participants will work on hand-eye coordination while learning the basic fundamentals and strokes of tennis.

    Each participant will be evaluated to determine which skills to work on during the lesson, and also what level to register for next session. Each participant will receive a Recreation t-shirt at the beginning of lesson (indicated size when registering). Tennis balls are provided.

    303750 - PeeWee Sports Camp

    Youth ages 3 to 5 years.

    PeeWee Sports Camp coaches cannot wait to teach 3-to 5-year-olds about soccer and t-ball! While at t-ball, PeeWee sports players will learn proper bat grip, throwing and catching, and running bases. While at soccer, participants will learn to dribble, kick, protect the ball and more. Every day, we will focus on sportsmanship and fun. Each participant will receive one recreation t-shirt.

    What to bring to camp:

    311203 - Horseback Riding

    Partnering with Golden Ridge Stables in Lakeville, Savage Parks and Recreation presents "Calling All Horse Lovers". This camp is designed to give riders a fun-filled day of riding experience. In addition, campers will play games and make a treasured keepsake. Discover how to safely work with a horse on the ground as well on its back, in a hands-and seat-on environment. Because participation is limited to only eight riders, each child will get individual attention, a structured riding lesson and learn about their horse. Participants must be physically and ognitively able to ride a horse on their own.

    Participants are required to wear jeans and boots; riders will not be allowed to ride in tennis shoes. Helmets will be provided. Please bring a water bottle, a nut-free snack and a bag lunch. Transportation not provided; please meet on-site by the program start time.

    Dance and sing to the music from Tangled, while choreographing a musical! everyone will learn how to put together a professional show from start to finish.     Youth entering grade 1 to grade 6.

    Fabulous Fridays are back and ready for you! These one-day camps are filled with small group activities, nature play (fishing at McColl Pond, nature walks and exploration time), large-group games, activities, special guests and day trips. Each Fabulous Friday participant will receive one Recreation t-shirt for the summer. T-shirts will be available on-site the first day of each session.

    NEW! - Camp will run for one additional hour to allow time for travel during day trips as well as for special guests and speakers.

    313351 - Beginner Tennis Class

    Youth entering grade 1 to grade 7.

    Beginner Tennis is for the participants with very little or no previous experience. Basic techniques of the forehand and backhand stroke, as well as serving and rules will be covered.

    Each participant will be evaluated to determine which skills to work on during the lesson, and also what level to register for next session. Each participant will receive a Recreation t-shirt at the beginning of lesson
    (indicated size when registering). Tennis balls are provided.

    What to bring to camp:
    Please bring a water bottle, sunscreen and the correct size tennis racket.

    314256 - Junior Instructor

    Youth ages 12 to 15 years.

    Junior Instructors will work side-by-side with our playground camp instructors on all camp duties. Some duties include assisting with check-in and check-out, craft set-up and implementation, leading games and activities, and more! This program will teach junior instructors leadership, communication, and job skills - all while providing them with positve role models and building community involvement. Each participant will receive a recreation t-shirt.


    A mandatory informational meeting for all junior instructors will take place on June 6 at 5:30 p.m. at Savage City Hall, 6000 McColl Drive.

    All ages!

    If you are up for a challenge, join the Savage Walking Club for exercise, motivation and goal-setting. Your goal will be to walk 2,778 miles - the equivalent of a cross country trip from Los Angeles to New York. Submit your progress on a weekly basis to be tracked regularly by staff. Each participant will receive a pedometer and a t-shirt.
